  • Single days works well
    • Would be too intense if one whole week
  • CREA was MUCH BETTER venue
  • In retrospect how good was it?
    • 9/10
  • Adastra training
    • Better in small groups
      • pairs / threes
    • Part of HDR?
      • ?half of eportfolio session
      • ?session in own right

Hospital at Night Scheme - update

  • Brad: Probaby starting in April

Borrowdale for all - ideas

  • Would be better not in school hols
  • Plan well in advance
  • Aim for first week of July
  • Action
    • Tim lead
      • Need to meet ASAP
        • Theme
        • Venue
        • GPR involvement

Scheme bulletin

  • "Very good"
  • A lot of work to start off with, but getting better now
  • Website - "very impressive"
  • Communication over email
    • Please read them!
    • Make professional and timely response
    • Professional emails NOT same as personal ones

Study leave

  • Deanery is currently looking at this

Funding available when in hospital posts at the moment

    • Margaret Tait is contact, in Education Centre

Funding is not available whislt in General Practice

Study Leave is 30 days/ year

    • 15 of these days are taken by HDR programme

We have negotiated with departments that courses DO NOT have to apply to the specific post you are doing

    • just need to be appropriate for training as a whole

Eportfolio

  • More guidance on what is required for eportfolio  eg. PSQ
    • Incorporate into eportfolio session
    • Scheme website
    • gp-training.net
    • Bradford VTS
    • RCGP website
    • Roadmap
  • Rules are updated quite frequently
    • We are not always alerted to this
    • Need to keep eye on RCGP website

Difference in experience between GP practices

  • Programme accepts this
  • View it as positive
  • There are quite large differences
    • not much that we can do to change this
  • Practice swap
    • Yes, yes, yes!
      • If you want to
      • Need to negotiate and organise yourself
        • with support of trainer
          • who has final say
        • and TPDs
    • ITP is opportunity to do this

Time out of busy rota to attend HDR

    • A & E
    • Obs & Gynae
    • This is your study leave
      • should be released to attend
      • need to be assertive
      • Need to accept that "needs of service" may dictate that you can't come occasionally

Guidance on suggested courses / diplomas
A lot of information already on website, if specific additional guidance required, please speak to a TPD.

Splitting ITP

    • E.g. dermatology + eyes

Scheme is open to discussion though need to make sure sufficient time in each post to learn still remains

Dermatology post

      • ?scope for ITP
      • GPRs are encouraged to think flexibly and ask if they have special requirements

Teaching sessions fortnightly

    • This has been considered
    • Conclusion is that on balance, weekly half days are better
      • though accept that this is a compromise

Christmas "do"

    • 18th December at Irena's house
      • Families invited
      • Email on its way

Date of next meeting 19/1/11
