Video Instruction on Eportfolio for Trainees

Wales have developed a video version (with sound) of the RCGP Guidance for Trainees for using the Eportfolio. This short video lasting 32 minutes is based totally on the RCGP documentation, and using the sub-headings one can navigate from chapter to chapter.

Changes to the CSA

There have been a few subtle changes to the way that the CSA is marked (see FAQs 1 July 2010). The changes allow a greater focus on competencies over the whole 13 cases, rather than the old pass-fail for each case. This change will benefit those who have, and naturally display, the competencies. It becomes even more important, therefore, to be adept at communication skills and be able to reflect after each consultation “OK, if that had been a CSA case, how would it have gone?” in order to develop the competencies naturally. The changes will disadvantage candidates who try to do it differently on the CSA day to how they do it normally in practice

  • Recording absences

Periods of absence longer than 2 weeks should be recorded on e-portfolio as out of programme with the exact dates as requested by the RCGP certification unit.  Scheme managers have been asked to collect this information from both training practices and hospital trusts the details are then passed to the panel for information for upcoming ARCP panels.

See FAQ: If I have been absent from training due to sickness, jury service, maternity leave or paternity leave do I have to make this time up?
