How to add an RSS feed from this site

by Brad Cheek last modified 24-08-2011 16:59

What is an RSS feed?

RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication". This is an automatic mechanism which lets you know automatically when new information is added to this web site. An email message will appear in the RSS folder in outlook which will give you the title (and perhaps a description of the content) of the page, together with a link which you can click to take you straight to the page on hte website. This allows you to keep p to date with what is going on in medical education in the scheme, the deanery and nationally.

So how do I do it?

Click the "What's New" button at the top of any page on the site:

What's new

In the top right hand corner of the page you will see a little blue RSS button:

RSS button

Click the RSS button. YOu will see a list of recent new pages and when they were added. At the top of hte page, use the dropdown box to "Subscribe to this feed using Microsoft Office Outlook":

Choose outlook

Click "Subscribe now". YOur screen will automatically move to Outlook and presnt this box:

Add this feed

Click "Yes"

You will then see the RSS folder appear in the folder list of Outlook. Click on the folder to open the messages:

Outlook

The messages about new information will appear in this folder shortly after they appear on the website. If you are interested, click the link, if not, just press the delete button!
