About the practice

Dr Mark TaylorA friendly, rural Practice with 5 partners. List size of approximatley 7000.

LOCATION: Situated midway between the Solway coast and the Lake District National Park on the A595 in a purpose built Health Centre on the edge of the small rural community of Aspatria which is situated close to the North Lakes.

PRACTICE STAFF: The Practice employs a full complement of ancillary staff, including 4 part time Practice Nurses, a Nurse Practitioner, Practice Manager, Reception staff and a Medicines Manager.

EXTRA CLINICS: In addition to the full range of service to patients, we offer the following dedicated clinics: Antenatal, Postnatal, Diabetic,  Asthma, Child Health Surveillance, Immunisation and Vaccination clinics, and Cardiovascular Disease. We are a designated Yellow Fever Vaccination Centre.

We have Nurse leads in Diabetes, Asthma, CHD, COPD, Travel Health and Adolescents.  Our Nurse Practitioner specialises in urgent care, COPD and Heart Failure.  We also have attached staff which consist of Health Visitors, District Nurses, Midwives, First Step Mental Health staff and Community Psychiatric Nurses.

Dr Julie SaxtonEXTRA COMMENTS: Both Dr. Gardner & Dr. Taylor are members of Allerdale BASICS scheme. Dr. Gardner is a local representative of the RCGP.  Dr Taylor has an interest in minor surgery and sports medicine, Dr Saxton has a special interest in Mental Health and Dr Tarn specialises in epilepsy and sexual health.  All Partners undertake employment medicals of all kinds for two local, large employers.

The Practice takes 5th Year rotation Medical Students for three week attachments from Newcastle University Medical School.

We endeavour to offer a high standard of care to our patients and carers in a modernised, computerised EMIS Practice situated in a very rural setting. We continually seek to improve and update our range of services and to achieve a higher standard than the baseline set by the NHS.
