About the practice

Dr A EdgarThis is an eight partner urban practice with five full time and three part time partners covering almost 15,000 patients in Carlisle.

The main surgery is in the centre of town and this has been extensively renovated over recent years, to provide a ground floor service to our patients, in house pharmacy (provided by Lloyds Pharmacy) and a purpose designed teaching suite. We also have a large, purpose built, branch surgery situated in Harraby, one mile to the south east.

The practice is paperless, with daily electronic transfer of lab results, and scanning of all incoming mail. The two surgeries are computer linked.

Dr Chris CorriganThe Primary Health care Team is very active and includes onsite: three Nurse Practitioners, a salaried GP, five practice nurses, counsellors and District Nurses.

Our practice has a strong teaching ethos. In addition to GPR training, we teach third and final year medical students. We also trained our first Nurse Practitioner.

Although the new GMS contract frees us of our obligations to Out of Hours work, some of the partners, including the  trainers, still take on a number of out of hours shifts.

Other outside interests include GI endoscopy, LMC Chairman, Hospice Medical Officer, Diabetes lead for the PCT, Elective Care lead for PCT. We believe in taking an active part in the development of our local health service.  Dr Siddle is embarking on training to become a GPwSI in Musculoskeletal Medicine.

Dr Robert WestgsteWe provide specialist ESP service, near patient anticoagulation testing and hope to begin providing a community cardiology service in the very near future.
