About the practice
Langholm is a small town in the Scottish borderlands. The Health Centre was extended in 1990 and adjoins the Thomas Hope community hospital which incorporates GP beds and a day hospital.
The list size is approximately 2900, with 900 rural patients scattered over a wide area in the valleys of the rivers Esk, Ewes, Tarras and Wauchope.
The Practice runs Child Development, Weight Management and Chronic Disease Management clinics, shared between all the clinical staff. Dr Mark Phillips and Dr Taudevin undertake minor surgery. The attached Thomas Hope Hospital has 12 beds and all partners share in its day to day running. There are 4 peripheral clinics run by Consultants as well as counsellor run clinics from Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
The practice has a Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse and a Health Care Assistant and also works very closely with the District Nursing and Health Visiting Staff who are housed at the same site and with whom regular daily meetings are held.
