Roadmap for training

by Andy Punton last modified 30-06-2010 21:33

The Northern Deanery have required that we alter our Scheme roadmap for the workplace based assessments. The new roadmap will apply for 2009 entrants.

The changes are as follows:

  • All GPRs will be considered "out of post" for the first 2 months of the Scheme ie August and September.
  • GPRs will start their eportfolio in October, when starting with the Scheme
  • Educational supervision interviews will occur in January and July every year. This means that the first educational supervision interview will occur at the end of the GPRs first 4-month placement in general practice. In this 4-month period, GPRs will be expected to complete a minimum of 3 COTs and 3 CBDs.
  • ARCP panels will occur in July each year, and the final ARCP panel will occur 6 weeks before the end of the GPRs training. In addition, each ECVTS GPRs will have an extra panel in February of their final year.

2008 and 2007 entrants to the Scheme will continue on the old roadmap. The Scheme will continue to prompt GPRs and trainers about timings for the individual educational supervision interviews.

  • Microsoft Excel Document Roadmap 2009 and 2010 starters
  • Adobe PDF Document ECVTS roadmap for training for 2008 and 2007 starters

These documents detail a month-by-month approach to the 3 year GPR rotation, and the minimum assessment requirements of the MRCGP. It is a little more complex because of the October start of the Scheme. There are marked benefits to the October start, however.
